Training

Taking the time it takes in the beginning to develop a foundation that will last a lifetime.

Dreamscape Horsemanship offers quality, affordable training, coaching and boarding in a relaxed atmosphere in a variety of disciplines from Western/English Performance to Extreme Cowboy Racing and Cowboy Challenge. DSH is a multi time Open and NATIONAL champion and reserve champion trainer and breeder. See the individual horse pages under "Wolf Hollow Horses" for exact winnings and show records. Classes include Halter, Tobiano Colour Class, In Hand Trail, Ranch Division and Extreme Cowboy Racing.

DSH strives to turn your equine partners into calm, confident and willing individuals with emphasis on trust, in a variety of western disciplines to create show ready athletes or trustworthy mounts the entire family can enjoy. We take the time the horse needs to truly relax and accept the training process which results in a willing, quiet and confident mount that you can take anywhere. At DSH, horses get the foundation they need for you to build your dreams on!

Our colt starting program provides the horse with the necessary groundwork to prepare for and accept a rider (generally spanning the first couple weeks to 30 days of our 3 month program), and introduces the body control and responses needed for successful first rides. By the time we swing a leg over, they already know how to respond to the bridle and cues so that we can carry on under saddle. Under saddle, they generally learn all three gaits, a solid stop, back up and basic boy control to prepare them for their future. We do not move on from a particular task if the horse has not accepted it to the level of softness we expect. We do not shotgun horses through training in order to "get more done" and it will not always look flashy during the process. In fact, it generally looks pretty boring because we prepare the horses in such a way that drama during the colt starting process generally doesn't occur. We put the horse's mental and physical capabilities, and welfare at the top of the priority list and work with the horse according to what the HORSE needs in order to be successful. Although the client's goals and desires are valid and we keep those in mind too, we get to where the horse is capable of getting to in any given time frame. Our main goals in our colt starting program is to create a confident, relaxed, soft and willing horse that is familiar with the basics. If  you wish  your horse to have a deeper level of education, be prepared for that to take longer than our 3 month program.

The Performance Horse program dives a lot deeper into that over a longer period of time to develop a prospect into a horse that can successfully enter the show pen whether it be in hand or under saddle in a variety of events. We personally show in Extreme Cowboy Racing, All Around performance and Ranch events, with a growing interest in Mounted Archery. But we also strive to make the horses as versatile as possible regardless of their future discipline and provide a lot of cross training in our program. No matter the horse's intended future, all horses in our program get exposed to obstacles and riding outside of the arena as well. For in hand trail, and young show horse development in hand, please refer to our "Young Horse Development Program" tab under the Services button.

Any program that our clients desire the horse to be under saddle for require 3 month minimum bookings. Our conditioning/fitness programs include groundwork and under saddle, in and out of the arena IF the horse is broke enough for that. The fitness program is specifically just to increase fitness. If the horse is not broke enough for the under saddle portion of this program, it is at the trainer's discretion to either move them into a training program OR provide groundwork only for the fitness. Horses 2yrs old and under get a modified program to ensure their long term soundness.

See the "About Us" tab to see the facility and what the facility has to offer. Our program costs include group board, of max 6 to a pen (generally closer to 4 per pen) on free choice, netted round bales and a specialized feed program for each horse. Private pens are available on a limited basis for an extra fee and can fit up to 3 or 4 per private pen if a client desires to send more than one horse. Pasture grazing is available, attached to certain pens during the grazing season included in the program cost. If the client wishes to have the horse blanketed, the client must supply blankets as required, repairs are at the expense of the owner (though we provide minor repairs in house for no charge).
