We have been impressed with stallion from the day he was born. His temperament and willingness far exceeds any other horse I have known. There is no need to train this stallion. You ask, he tries. So if mind and temperament are important to you, look no further! Thunder has been a horse like no other. He has been the easiest to train, versatile and has a no nonsense approach to his work. Anything I've pointed him to or asked of him, he has done.
Pedigree wise, he is a combination of run, cow/ranch, halter, pleasure and foundation quarter horse. His dam, HPH This Chicks Rare is a combination of older foundation quarter horse likes - Breezy Wyatt for example. Her papers also go back to include names like the famous Dash for Cash, with just a tiny amount of western pleasure names tossed in.
His sire, Chickaleo Traveler is halter and pleasure lines, also including the versatile Little Peppe Leo, a horse known for passing on his amazing temperament to his offspring and with enough presence to pass it to his grand offspring. I've worked several Little Peppe Leo bred horses and they are all the same! Chill and willing.
Chickaleo Traveler himself, had a successful show career, accumulating an APHA Open Reserve Grand Champion Halter, as well as 104 PtHA points (English, Halter and Tobiano Colour) and also earned points in Disciplined English and Western Rail, and Ideal Pinto English and Western, and Western Pleasure.
We still own his dam, HPH This Chicks Rare (Dawn), who with limited under saddle work, has proven to be a fantastic novice mount for Perry, who took her to Extreme Cowboy Racing with only 10 rides on her and NAILED IT! She too, like Thunder, has the work ethic and stride to go all day on the ranch, no questions asked. Both sire and dam, and Thunder prove there is consistency in these bloodlines when it comes to ability, trainability and soundness, both physically and mentally!
Thunder has done obstacles, can lope bridges and cowboy curtains, has no issue dragging objects (logs, noisy things, carts, you name it). Water obstacles of any kind including going through a sprinkler are no issue. Have rode bareback, in nothing but a halter, passed a bunch of other horses and again, no issues. He has ponied an older gelding a handful of times, his lateral movements are showing a lot of promise. And he is working on his maneuvers and refinement for Ranch Riding and Ranch Trail. He has roped objects. He has seen cows and didn't bat an eye. When we have had him out and about, everyone comments on his chill temperament and respect for the horses around him. He is also one of the smoothest moving horses I've rode, though doesn't care much for compressing that. He prefers to move out like a ranch horse! He has done a bit of it all. Western All Around, English, some low level jumping, Ranch, the beginnings of Extreme Cowboy Racing and was even lightly broke to pull a sled/to drive. As of fall 2024, he is also working towards Mounted Medieval Skills at Arms and Mounted Archery with Dreamscape Horsemanship in the saddle, under the coaching of Smith's Medieval Clinics for yet another chapter in Thunder's story! This is one versatile, easy trained stallion!
We are very hopeful that he will pass on that versatility, ease of training and temperament to his offspring in the future. And, with him being dual homozygous black tobiano, he will never sire a red based, or a solid foal regardless of what he is bred to! The foal will always carry 1 copy of black and 1 copy of tobiano guaranteed, no matter what he is crossed with! He is also 7 panel clean, meaning he does not carry a single genetic disease that is often found in APHA bred horses (regular 6 panel N/N and IMM N/N). Currently standing 16.2 hands, taped.

Thunder will showcase his skills and talent in the future under saddle in the show pen in both Extreme Cowboy Racing, and the Ranch division (Ranch halter, Ranch Trail, Ranch Pleasure, Ranch Riding) at APHA and Canadian Pinto shows and we hope to not only start him over fences but also dabble in the All Around at Canadian Pinto as well!

In 2020, he participated in a Canada wide virtual open horse show and placed 1st in Novice Walk/Jog Horsemanship, and 2nd in Novice Walk/Jog Western Pleasure!

He had a very nice Yearling year in the show ring with limited showing. Though he was a rather late foal and wasn't quite as developed as some of the others, he still placed well and is always complimented on how quiet and relaxed his is as a stallion around the presence of other horses.

He was also 8th out of a deep pen in the Signature Series In Hand Trail Futurity at the Alberta Paint Club in 2018. Though he has had limited show pen time, he has more than proved his incredible versatility and trainability, and ease of handling.
